cover concept

Inspired by Marshall McLuhan's, Medium is the Massage, I was able to develop a new book concept and design a cover. I transformed anatomy diagrams into illustrations and created a color palette using red, green, and blue to represent the good and bad things that go into our system. In hopes that if people could see their insides, it would change their relationship with food.

BOOK IDEA

Imagined newest offering from Marshall McCluhan

Roots is a new beginning. Our world pushes us to move fast, forcing us to rely on fuel that is harmful to our existence. Your health should be a priority. Where do we go from here? What are you standards? Food markets should be held accountable for the health of their community. A healthy society not only would prove to eliminate exasperating health costs but would provide for physical, mental and quality human existence.

INSPIRATION & EXECUTION

I was inspired by the human anatomy and the clean black outlines of the organs. I decided to have red be the primary color, to stand out and have a compelling feel to show that what we consume into our bodies, can have a negative effect. I used three colors for the vines going throughout the inside and the boarders of the page to show how different types of foods can have different results. We are all here to grow together, not a part.
