The Place I Belong was created and dedicated to my Grandfather in his hardest time. He suffered from dementia and Alzheimer’s and was living in a care unit. He was the sweetest man who spoke very little words but wore his heart on his sleeve. I poured my heart into this piece, using light translucent colors in many layers with all different carvings in each section. Life is celebrated in every stage with high and lows that shape us into the individuals we are today.
